wo ting bu dong, duibuqi!

ni hao everyone. i've been so good about uploading my blog, i'm really happy. it's partially for you, the readers and a litle bit for me to remember what i do everyday! yesterday i had class in the morning, like i do every morning, which was awesome as usual. it's a long class so i'm glad i can stay entertained. there are koreans, japanese, americans and even germans in my class! it's really funny to hear people speaking chinese with accents, say like a german accent. I really want to get the time to talk to these people and hear their stories and why they're here learning chinese but so far i haven't really had a chance. i also met a girl who's going to be a freshman at berkeley next year, wooo!

yesterday after class and subsequent DELICIOUS lunch we went on a mysterious city sightseeing tour and we really didnt know what to expect. turns out we took the bridge across the huangpu river into pudong. shanghai is divided into two 'districts' if you will: pudong and puxi (i believe is the latter name). dong means east and xi means west. pudong is on the east side of the huangpu river and i am on the other/west side of the river. pudong, i believe, based on my observations, is a nicer area, at least downtown is. the pearl oriental tower, which is a prety famous shanghai landmark is in pudong as well as the financial district. we stopped by the pearl oriental tower and got to walk around and then we were taking to people's park (renmin guanchang, i believe) which is just like a park. and then we were taken to nanjing road, which i had been to part of before. It's just a really long street with lots of stores, it's pretty popular with foreigners as seen by the many european people i saw there. there was also a fancy shmancy mall with lacoste's and the like. after we had traditional japanese food (which believe it or not, consists of more than just sushi!) and we wanted to see a movie after but were informed that all movies were sld out. apparently if you want to see a movie on any given week night you have to buy tickets two hours in advanced!! i guess a city of 17 million people will do that to ya! anyways, we just returned home and took it easy...

today at 5 we're going to get to talk to some chinese students that study finance and they are going to take us home and we are going to prepare traditional chinese dinner with them! i am excited!

ps i will pooooost my city tour pictures manana.

pps. the city tour was with a bunch of people and i got to meet some crazy europeans who were from barcelona! where i am studying next year. never thought i would be practicing my spanish in china (which is EXTREMELY EXTREMELEY HARD fyi)
